Five-sided milling of a component for special machine design
Central machining and manufacturing machine procurement.

Machining of individual parts and purchasing manufacturing machines on the basis of drawings are two core tasks within manufacturing machine design. These two tasks are handled by the Central Machining and Manufacturing Machine Procurement Center.

As a service provider in the areas of special machine design and tool and die and mold design, we undertake the following:
  • Manufacture of all the individual parts needed in manufacturing machine design by turning, milling, surface and cylindrical grinding
  • Purchasing of surface treatments and coatings
  • Purchasing of individual parts for our manufacturing machines
  • Purchasing of complete jigs, special machines and injection and stamping tools
Why would STIHL purchase parts from an outside source when you can do machining in-house within manufacturing machine design? Our in-house machining capacities are designed always to ensure full utilisation in two-shift operation. Demand in excess of that or special technologies which we don't need every day are covered by purchasing. How do you ensure that your in-house machining is always state-of-the-art? Firstly, our in-house production facilities are continually modernised. Secondly, our experienced specialists receive further training, in-house and externally. Are urgently needed components normally produced in-house? Many of the urgent parts which are needed within a matter of hours we make in-house. That is the huge advantage of in-house machining. In addition, suppliers we have relied on for many years supply us with urgently needed parts, including overnight. How do you ensure that deliveries from external suppliers meet STIHL quality standards? Detailed specifications define our requirements for purchased items. Complex equipment undergoes acceptance at the supplier's prior to delivery. Individual parts delivered to us undergo a precisely defined incoming inspection.
