Waiblingen-based ANDREAS STIHL AG & Co. KG has honored five suppliers with its "Supplier of the Year 2010" award. ANDREAS STIHL AG & Co. KG is one of the world's leading manufacturers of chain saws and produces many other portable power tools, including trimmers, brushcutters, cut-off machines, blowers and sprayers. The five award-winning suppliers are among some 600 companies throughout the world from which STIHL purchases production materials, components and capital goods. The certificates that go with the awards were presented at a special ceremony in June by Dr. Bertram Kandziora, chairman of the executive board and senior vice president, manufacturing and materials of ANDREAS STIHL AG & Co. KG.
STIHL has presented the "Supplier of the Year" award to a total of 86 suppliers since 1990. Twentyone of those companies have won the award twice, four have been honored three times and one four times.
The assessment criteria for the award were: outstanding accomplishments with respect to quality, technology, innovation, service and price-performance ratio. The "Supplier of the Year" award spotlights those suppliers who have supported the company in its quest for high supply quality, punctual deliveries, flexibility, cooperation and special know-how.
The five award-winning suppliers of 2010 are:
- Domel, d.d., Železniki / Slovenia (electric engines)
- Kaaz Corporation, Okayama / Japan (Gearboxes)
- Schaeffler Technologies GmbH & Co. KG, Herzogenaurach / Germany (Bearings)
- SONAX GmbH, Neuburg / Germany (Cleaning agents)
- Staudigl-Druck GmbH & Co. KG, Donauwörth / Germany (Printed publications)
