Minister Guttenberg visits STIHL

Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, Dr. Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg, visited STIHL’s Plant 2 in Waiblingen-Neustadt on 29 July. The minister was welcomed by Dr. Rüdiger Stihl, member of the advisory board of STIHL HOLDING AG & Co. KG, and members of the executive board of STIHL AG. During their talks, Dr. Stihl expressed support for the minister’s regulative course: “We need to return to the social market economy in order to strengthen Germany’s competitiveness of as a business location.” Furthermore, he said that German industry needs more effective regulations for the protection of intellectual property: “The government should take the initiative, impose higher penalties on counterfeiters and threaten moderate fines for the buyers of pirate products,” said Dr. Stihl.

On the subsequent tour of the factory, executive board chairman Dr. Bertram Kandziora showed the minister STIHL’s guide bar production, the assembly lines and explained: “A combination of well trained and highly motivated staff on the one hand and the very latest production technology on the other, enables us to offer workplaces here in Germany that stand up to international competition.“

The minister visited Waiblingen at the invitation of member of par-liament Dr. Joachim Pfeiffer. Dr. Pfeiffer and the mayor of Waiblingen, Andreas Hesky, were also part of the group that visited STIHL.
