STIHL joins DTM series as co-sponsor of Mercedes-Benz
The STIHL Group is expanding its international involvement in motorsport. STIHL aims to further enhance brand recognition by co-sponsoring the four 2009 AMG Mercedes C-Class cars. Jürgen Steinhauser, STIHL Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales, explains: “Our sponsorship of the DTM strengthens STIHL’s global brand image. In 2008 the DTM was shown on television in 175 countries and reached half a billion people.“ The STIHL logo will be seen on the rear wings, front and rear of the Mercedes C-Class cars of the AMG team at all ten DTM races and on the overalls of their drivers.
Norbert Haug, Vice President, Mercedes-Benz Motorsport, is pleased about the co-operation: “Mercedes and STIHL fit well together with their Swabian roots, innovative technology and their claim to quality. I think this new co-operation with such a renowned partner will give the DTM a further boost.”
The new DTM season starts on 17 May 2009 in Hockenheim. There will be six DTM races in Germany and a further four in other European countries. The 2009 season finishes on 25 October with another race in Hockenheim.
