STIHL partners FIA World Touring Car Championship
The STIHL Group, manufacturer of the world’s biggest selling chain saw brand, based in Waiblingen near Stuttgart (Germany), is expanding its involvement in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (FIA WTCC) in the coming season. As the exclusive Official Outdoor Power Equipment Partner, STIHL will accompany the only global touring car championship as a series partner.
STIHL was previously a partner at individual events in the series in 2006 and 2007 (Oschersleben and Valencia). The agreement reached between STIHL and EUROSPORT, the marketing agent for the FIA WTCC, covers inclusion in TV commercials and online advertising. In addition, STIHL will be represented by perimeter advertising at the tracks and in the paddock, carry out promotional activities at the venues and use the FIA WTCC races for its own VIP hospitality purposes.
Jürgen Steinhauser, STIHL’s Senior Vice President Marketing and Sales, explains: “Our involvement in the FIA WTCC underscores once again our global brand image. Since it was founded, the company has stood for innovative engineering and uncompromising quality. STIHL – the world number one in chain saws and a leading manufacturer of handheld outdoor power tools – is represented in more than 160 countries.”
The new FIA WTCC season opens on March 2, 2008 in Curitiba, Brazil. Races are held in twelve countries on three continents. The German world championship races, numbers 15 and 16 on the calendar, will take place on August 31 in the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena. Macao (China) is the venue of the final race of the 2008 season on November 16.
