Steady growth at STIHL

The STIHL group grew further in fiscal year 2001. Contrary to the general trend in German industry, it increased unit sales and turnover yet again. Taking the non-consolidated companies into account, its turnover climbed 4.4 percent to € 1.47 billion. The share of turnover generated abroad rose to 87.2 percent. On the whole, currency fluctuations had little influence on turnover in 2001. Most of turnover growth can therefore be attributed to higher unit sales. Viewed in terms of world regions, the situation was more varied than in the previous year. Stronger growth in turnover and unit sales was recorded in southern and eastern Europa and the United Kingdom. The increase in the United States was also above-average. Weaker sales were recorded primarily in the markets of Latin America and Japan.
