Carhartt® supports European Championships and World Championships
The STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® SERIES has gained a new main sponsor for the European and World Championships, from the 2008 season: Carhartt®. Based near Detroit, the company has been making premium workwear for more than 100 years and is one of the most successful international brands in this sector.
The STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® SERIES is pleased to present a new main sponsor, namely Carhartt®. This family-owned US firm will support both the European and the World Championships of the elite division of lumberjack sports from the 2008 season on. STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® European Coordinator, Lars Klein, sees it as an ideal partnership: “Carhartt® fits the STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® SERIES extremely well, as an internationally operating premium supplier in its segment. And the long term prospects are good, too.” Lothar Schaefer, Marketing Manager at Carhartt® Europe, regards the commitment to the STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® SERIES as more than just sponsorship: “We believe in being the best-in-class in everything we do. So we’re proud now to be a partner in the elite division of lumberjack sports. The fact is that the values and aims of the STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® SERIES match Carhartt® perfectly, and vice versa. That natural fit was what prompted us to enter into a long term partnership.”
The commitment to the STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® European Championships and World Championships is a cornerstone of Carhartt’s marketing concept. “We believe the STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® SERIES will enduringly strengthen Carhartt® brand awareness in Europe and beyond. And it will do so in an environment that’s right for us. And of course, the competition broadcasts by EUROSPORT were also a key factor for us as an internationally operating business.” This is documented by the signing of a three-year contract. In addition to the European Championships and the World Championships Carhartt® will continue to support the US competition series.
Carhartt® was established by Hamilton Carhartt near Detroit in 1889. The firm today has more than 4,000 employees and is one of the best-known and top-selling manufacturers of premium workwear. This family business owes its success to the quality of its products, which are characterised by their hard-wearing properties, good fit and high level of functionality. Carhartt® first opened up the European market in 1994, with a European branch concentrating mainly on the leisurewear segment. Since setting up its European headquarters in Amsterdam in 2004 the company has also distributed its core product, workwear, in Europe.
