The gardens are at their most beautiful in the morning

The gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle in Merano: a botanical paradise spanning an area of 12 hectares. The gardens boast more than 80 spectacular garden landscapes. A team of 30 gardeners - including Danilo and Michael – care for these landscapes round the clock. We decided to accompany them as they set about their exciting work. Their task: maintaining the striking, 18 metre high cypress trees on the terraces.

It's almost time to get going; without making a racket

The batteries have been powered up and are ready to go. Danilo explains what he likes about the PRO cord-less power system: the batteries can be used with any device in the PRO series and they make the devices lighter and quieter. This provides a more pleasant atmosphere for the guests, many of whom see the castle gardens as a place of quiet relaxation.

Here comes the lift truck!

It's early morning with no sign of visitors – the gar-dens are a haven of peaceful tranquillity. Only the noise from Michael's lift truck breaks the silence. Mi-chael drives through the castle grounds carefully yet efficiently, moving from cypress to cypress. Each tree is to be trimmed neatly by colleague Danilo, right to the very top.

"A bit higher, Michael!"

Michael can raise his colleague up to 17 metres above the ground using the lift truck. But the height doesn't bother Danilo. He is much more concerned about having a lightweight tool to hand. With approximately 150 cypress trees to maintain, the difference between a lightweight cordless device and a conventional device is extremely noticeable over a long period of time.

And last but not least, the hedge

Michael also trims the low hedge at the bottom of the cypress trees. He then blasts the cuttings out of the way using a cordless blower, so that the guests don't have to walk through them.
